LIMITED LICENSE RECOGNITION AGREEMENTS

At their March 26, 2020 meeting the Georgia Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies voted to approve a Limited License Recognition Agreement between the Alabama Private Investigation Board and the Georgia Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies. This agreement, effective Friday, March 27, 2020, allows for Private Investigators or Private Investigative agencies who are licensed in either state and whose license(s) is/are in good standing in that state, to enter the reciprocating state to conduct private investigations only if the private investigation originated in their home state.

Furthermore, investigation in the reciprocating state is limited to thirty (30) days per agency per case. Investigations exceeding thirty days must be handled by a licensed private investigation agency in the reciprocating state. Please note that the exemption does not authorize private investigators or private investigative agencies to solicit private investigative business in the reciprocating state or to conduct private investigative business in the reciprocating state other than as specifically stated above.

The Georgia Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies currently has Limited License Recognition Agreements with the following states: California, Florida, Louisiana, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Alabama.
